And putting your experiences into words can also help you better understand your own faith.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sharing your faith story is about connecting with others and showing them how faith can change lives. So let\u2019s get started on understanding how to prepare and share your story.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2>Reflect on your faith journey<br \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 16px\">First, jot down some key moments of your faith journey. Ask yourself:<\/span><\/h2><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When did I first encounter God?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What challenges have I faced that strengthened my faith?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">How has my relationship with Jesus changed over time?<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">What\u2019s the biggest lesson God has taught me?<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Don\u2019t worry about making it perfect \u2014 just get your thoughts flowing.<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2>Find your story\u2019s themes<br \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 16px\">Now look at what you\u2019ve written. Do you see any patterns? Maybe you\u2019ve learned a lot about trust, or forgiveness keeps popping up. Pick 2-3 main themes that really stand out to you. These will be the heart of your story.<\/span><\/h2><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">For example, your themes might be:<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From doubt to faith.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Finding purpose through serving others.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Experiencing God\u2019s love in tough times.<\/span><\/span><p>\u00a0<\/p><\/li><\/ul><h2>Putting your story together<br \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 16px\">Now it\u2019s time to structure your story. Here\u2019s a simple framework to follow:<\/span><\/h2><ul><li><b>Before:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> What was your life like before your faith journey began? You want to paint a picture of what your life was like before you came to Christ. But don\u2019t dwell on how bad you used to be or revel in past sin.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/><\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><b>Turning Point:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> What happened that changed things for you? This section is how you came to Christ. Make sure you speak in such a way that the person you are talking with, and anyone who overhears you, can understand how you became a Christian and how they can become a Christian too.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/><\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><b>After:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Share some of the changes that Christ has made in your life as they relate to your theme. Emphasize the changes in your character, attitude and perspective, not just the mere changes in behavior. And be realistic. We still struggle as Christians. Life is far from perfect, isn\u2019t it? But what makes it different for you now? How has your life and perspective changed since then? This is an educational aspect to your story, so that even if your listener is not interested right now, they\u2019ll be able to make a decision down the road to follow Christ because you\u2019ve equipped them with the right information.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/><\/span><\/li><\/ul><ul><li><b>Invitation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Close it out with a summary statement that ties your story together according to your theme. You could close with a verse, but don\u2019t just throw one in to sound spiritual. Use one if it\u2019s meaningful and relates to the story you\u2019ve just told. Then finish it with an invitation. What would you say to encourage others on their own journey of faith?<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Remember, your story doesn\u2019t have to be dramatic to be powerful. God works in all kinds of ways!<\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><h2>Make your story come alive<br \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;font-size: 16px\">Now, let\u2019s make your story shine. Here are some tips:<\/span><\/h2><ul><li><b style=\"font-weight: 400\">Be real:<\/b> Don\u2019t sugarcoat things.
